| My Statement |
Politics have played a major role in my life. I am a life-long supporter of the Democratic Party as well as a life-long activist for civil rights and human rights for all.
I would like to represent Oregon at the National Convention in Denver as a delegate for Senator Obama. In my lifetime, there have been few people who have inspired me as much as Senator Obama and his vision for the future of America. He articulates the hopes and dreams I have for my children and grandchildren. I have worked with inner-city school children for past fifteen years as a mentor. I have served as the Chair of the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods because of my desire to ensure that residents have a voice in their neighborhood issues. As a member of organized labor, I presided over the A. Philip Randolph Institute which was instrumental in promoting voter registration/voter education and get-out-the-vote campaigns beginning in 1979. As a veteran, I take pride in having a history of serving my country and I am committed to advocating for the rights of all veterans. I hope you will provide me with the opportunity to represent you at the Democratic National Convention. | |
