| My Statement |
As the first Democrat in approximately two decades to win the suburban swing district in Tigard, it continues to be my honor to serve in the Oregon State Legislature and to Chair the Ways & Means Committee responsible for all of the public education budgets.
I've run two very challenging campaigns in a swing district where nonaffiliated voters often decide the election. I believe that the skills and experience that I've honed in these tough campaigns, along with my successful record as the Chair of the Education Finance Committee, will serve me well as an advocate and representative for Oregon Democrats in Denver. I'm very proud to have been the first state legislator (and perhaps first elected official in Oregon) to publicly endorse Barack Obama for president. I'm currently serving on Senator Obama's Northwest Finance Committee, and I would be honored to represent Oregon Democrats and Senator Obama at our Party's National Convention. As Democrats and Americans we are writing a new and exciting chapter in our nation's history. I hope to do my part to make certain that on January 20th, 2009 at Noon, Senator Barack Obama will be taking the oath of office to serve as the 44th president of the United States. I'm asking for your support to serve as a Delegate. | |
