My Statement
It is not often in life that one has an opportunity to be present at a historic event like the 2008 DNC convention. It would be a great privilege to cast a vote for Barack Obama on behalf of the Democrats of the 1st CD. I believe that Obama will be the kind of President for which future generations will be very grateful.

The Democratic Party is undergoing a transformation and it is very important to preserve the gains we’ve made that enabled a candidate like Barack Obama. While we must find a solution to seat Florida and Michigan, any compromise to seat these delegations must not reward breaking of the rules that every state ratified. And, we want delegates elected to the platform committee that will ensure the national platform unambiguously supports Obama’s position on holding the Bush administration accountable.

While is not the duty of this convention, I want the DNC to continue the 50 state strategy and I would very much like to see Howard Dean continue for another term as the DNC chair.

This election will not be easy. I believe we will see the kind of negative campaigning that gave us the Swift Boat attacks of 2004. When this delegate selection and nomination process is completed, I hope you will all join me to win this election for Obama by talking with your neighbors and challenging the influence of money and the negative attacks. Even a few hours will help. And, you can start by reconciling with the Clinton supporters and gaining their wholehearted support.
