| My Statement |
Hi – My name is Shirley Woods and I have been a Democrat since I was eight years old. As a child I didn’t understand the meaning of what it was to lend my time and effort towards the political process. I was just supporting the efforts of my Aunt in our community. Growing up in the city of Chicago on the West side this is the way the political system worked. You supported the Democratic machine (Mayor Richard J. Daley), no questions asked.
During my teen’s years, marching for Civil Rights after church, marching for Women’s Rights, marching for Job Rights, helped to shape me to be the person I am today. I believe in Barack Obama because, the time is right for change. We need to go into a different direction in this country. I am living my life with a look to the future. I want my kids to be able to live their future with a bright outlook as well as my grandchildren. Barack Obama is “saying” the things I need to hear to anticipate a brighter future for all Americans. I believe he is correct in his approach. As American citizens we can do anything we set our minds and hearts to do. Look at our past and what we have done, now look at today. Can you see the future if we all work together? I remember the comment, “Sticks and stones can break your bones, but names can never hurt you!” Stand Tall & Yell, BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! I am asking for your vote to become a Delegate for Barack Obama for the 5th Congressional district. I will represent our District in manner you can be proud. Thank You | |
