My Statement
After moving to Oregon in the summer of 1989, it didn’t take me long to get active with campaigns defending the GLBT community. I was a Steering Committee member with "No On Hate" PAC, and active with the No on 9 PAC, both of which evolved in order to defeat Oregon’s Measure 9 of 1992. The anti-gay forces congealed again for the 1994 campaign, and my involvement continued as a staff member for No on 13; again, we defeated the anti-GLBT efforts.

After Bush was (s)elected president in 2000, my political philosophies began to mature, and I realized that the only way the climate would improve for my community was if we had a more progressive community on a grand scale. My broadened political scope has freed me to advocate and lobby for issues ranging election reform to health care... and I also lobby the grassroots folk to get involved.

I would be thrilled and honored to represent Oregon, its citizens, and the GLBT Community in Denver. While it would be an amazing honor to attend as a delegate, it’s my hope that should I go, I will return to Oregon equipped with more tools, knowledge and skills that will help our Team of Multnomah Dems reach our election goals for November, as well as strengthen our Party far into future.

A thriving democracy must be continually nurtured, not just by compassionate, progressive elected officials, but by the people they represent. It is in the months and years beyond Denver that WE must continue working seemlessly.
