My Statement
I want a seat at the Convention to advocate for Barack Obama, and to build the national relationships that help leverage resources for our work here in Oregon (and to share some of our innovative youth organizing programs with other states). We’re building a new progressive movement, and we need help energizing grassroots organization and developing new leaders.

I was an early supporter of Barack, and I share his passion for progressive, grassroots-driven change. Because of my experience as a scrappy grassroots advocate, I’d be an asset on the floor in the event that the nomination is not settled quickly and peacefully. More specifically, over the past five years I have led efforts to organize young leaders and incubated progressive efforts in Oregon and the western United States. My accomplishments include:

  • Developing the Oregon Bus Project: We knocked on over 200,000 in swing districts for progressive state legislative candidates, helping to win 9 of 10 State Senate races in 2002-04, and 9 of 10 State House races in 2006.
  • Co-founding Building Votes and the Bus Project Foundation, which has registered over 30,000 new young adult Oregon voters.
  • Founding the Bus Federation, a network of Bus Project-inspired organizations in five western states.
  • Co-Founding PolitiCorps, an intensive hands-on training program in political organizing. Politicorps has graduated 61 summer program Fellows, of which 80% went on to begin careers in progressive public service.

As a convention delegate, I will work to strengthen relationships with state and national leaders, and to use these ties to leverage new resources for to our state and expand the work of engaging new progressives in Oregon.

I would be honored to have one of your male votes. Thanks for all you do.
